Shipping Manager

Job Description 

The Logistics Manager is responsible for the planning, organizing and completion of the domestic logistics and distribution operations for their respective accounts. This position must work closely with internal departments to ensure that all customer requirements are filled in a timely and accurate manner. 

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate deliveries to customers
  • Ensure that all orders are tagged as required by the account and that any special shipping instructions are on the order and communicated to Shipping
  • Maintain account customer profiles to ensure that all shipping/tagging/payment, etc, directions are understood and followed
  • Create and provide UCC labels and UPC labels to 3PL
  • Create Packing list based on routing request from factories
  • Process invoicing in internal system
  • Maintain accurate Open Order Logs and issue weekly status updates to respective departments
  • Communicate in a timely manner regarding problems in satisfying customer orders on time
  • Ensure that production orders are scheduled for timely delivery to meet start ship date on accounts’ orders
  • Commit product to sales orders for rush and/or special orders as needed and coordinate between Sales and Shipping
  • Submit committed orders to 3PL for picking and confirm that they are picked complete and in a timely manner
  • Settle customer disputes. Disputes include overages, shortages, shipments to incorrect locations, etc.
  • Monitors shipment status and discrepancies and works with customer to provide timely solutions.
  • Experience in logistics, operations, inventory management in consumer goods industry
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a transportation discipline
  • Must have excellent organizational skills for record keeping and multitasking
  • Computer Skills: Excel and Word
  • Must be ready to work in a stressful environment

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Experience in logistics, operations, inventory management in consumer goods industry
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a transportation discipline
  • Must have excellent organizational skills for record keeping and multitasking
  • Computer Skills: Excel and Word
  • Must be ready to work in a stressful environment
