Maesa is seeking an Assistant Controller to assist in the monthly closing and accrual process, analysis of accounts, financial reporting and support the AR and AP functions.  The is a new position that will help to support the VP finance/ Controller on day to day accounting tasks and work closing with the CFO.


  • Supervise and execute month end closing activities including:
    • analysis, reconciliation and posting of accruals and prepaids
    • review and reconciliation of factory deposits
    • monthly review of capex activities and ensure capitalization of fixed assets
    • review monthly inventory adjustments and ensure posting to proper GL accounts
  • Maintain fixed asset ledgers
  • Work closely with managers to review, analyze and update key operating budgets for IT, Marketing and PR spend
  • Prepare quarterly royalty statements
  • Prepare monthly borrowing base certificate with asset based lender
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly forecasts and financial reports
  • Participate in the annual audit and ensure timely delivery of the information/data requested by the auditors
  • Review the company’s accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances
  • Support Management Team and Department heads with in-depth analysis


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Management required
  • 3 - 5 years' of experience as an assistant controller or similar position
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting)
  • Well organized and ability to prioritize
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of ERP systems; experience with Epicor a plus
  • Strong Excel skills is a must
  • Experience with CPG industry and/or manufacturing a plus
  • Experience with Big four a plus
